It is hard to receive a diagnosis of cancer without immediately thinking it is the end. While cancer research, treatment and prevention have advanced considerably in recent years, there are always negative beliefs surrounding cancer. We must reduce the feeling of fatality related to a cancer diagnosis and change the equation from cancer = suffering and death, to cancer = rebuilding a life.

Getting cancer under control is a fight with many stages, changes and new priorities both for the people who are diagnosed with it and those around them. But it is possible to move through these stages from the diagnosis to the return to normal life.

The PAC initiative believes that in addition to promoting research to perfect treatments, psychological and moral support for people affected by cancer and their loved ones right from the outset are essential. Whether it is through finding information about the disease or simply receiving a bit of comfort, both body and spirit need to be cared for.
